Sweeter Success in the Gym This July! 🍭🍬

Hey Families!

Can you believe it’s July already? The gym is absolutely bubbling with energy, and we love watching our athletes come to class ready to challenge themselves, high-five their coaches, and grow.

This month, we are transforming our circuits into a magical Candy Land theme! But beyond the sugary fun, there is some amazing developmental growth happening on the floor.

Here is a fresh look at what your kids will be conquering over the next two weeks, the why behind the movement, and what to look for from the viewing areas!

🌟 The Focus Grid: July Weeks 1 & 2 🌟

  • Theme Concept: CandyLand 🍫🎨
  • Character Focus: I am curious! (Asking questions, exploring new movements, and discovering what our bodies can do!)
  • Developmental Skill: Balance ⚖️
  • Ninja Objectives: Lache, Rolling, Cartwheels, Kicks, and Twisting
  • Achievers Objectives: Handstands, Swinging, Rolls, Cartwheels, and Leaping

The Circuit Breakdown: What They Are Mastering & Why

🍭 The Gumdrop Pit (Pit Stations)

  • The Stations: Tucking into smooth backward rolls down a wedge mat, carving cartwheels to scoop up marshmallow foam blocks, and testing airtime by leaping over massive marshmallow obstacles directly into the pit.
  • The Hidden Challenge: Finding a rock-solid handstand shape against two panel mats, making sure their bellies don’t squish the hidden gummy bear (stuffed bear) beneath them!
  • The “Why”: Inverting the body while actively bracing the core teaches essential spatial awareness. Meanwhile, side-to-side ski hops on the trampoline build the lateral ankle strength and rapid balance adjustments needed for unsteady terrain.

🍬 The Licorice Twist Bars (Bar Stations)

  • The Stations: Casting aggressively up onto two blocks, pressing into a tall front support before safely rolling forward, and using the wooden stairs to power up and over for a clean pullover.
  • The Hidden Challenge: Suspending from the wall bars in a tight tuck or pike hold while squeezing a marshmallow foam block tightly between their knees.
  • The “Why”: Standard swinging with a slider forces athletes to maintain total body tension. These drills build the extreme forearm grip endurance and abdominal compression required to control momentum on the bars.

🍦 The Peppermint Palace (Achievers Floor 3)

  • The Stations: Navigating elegant passé balance walks across the beam while holding a giant lollipop, springing through clean cartwheels on precision velcro dots, and lengthening their strides to leap cleanly over incoming gummy sharks.
  • The Hidden Challenge: Tossing a balloon into the air, executing a rapid forward roll down the wedge mat, and popping up just in time to strike the balloon before it touches the ground!
  • The “Why”: Tracking an object mid-roll forces the eyes and brain to communicate under dizziness, drastically improving vestibular balance and rapid motor planning.

🥷 The Chocolate Mountain (Ninja Floor 4)

  • The Stations: Launching over candy obstacles into fast forward rolls, steering cartwheels carefully around sweet gumdrops, and throwing high kicks at a hanging candy cane pool noodle.
  • The Hidden Challenge: Balancing a cross-body walk on the narrow beam while matching colored candy beanbags to their corresponding cones on either side.
  • The “Why”: Lateral beam work paired with a sorting task forces the brain to manage split-attention balance. Additionally, the Lache block-hop teaches explosive upper-body weight transfers and coordination under fatigue.

What You’ll See on the Floor

When you peer out into the gym, you won’t just see kids moving—you’ll see them exploring. Because our character lesson centers on Curiosity, coaches are actively encouraging athletes to ask questions about how their bodies move and try new variations of skills. We want them leaning into the “how” and “why” of flipping and balancing so they can discover just how capable they really are!

We are so excited to navigate this sweet journey alongside your kiddos. Got questions? Give us a text or call at 720-708-6306.

Cheers to an active summer,
